The state-level TNTET exam comprises two sections: Paper 1 (Primary Stage) and Paper 2 (Secondary Stage) (Elementary Stage), both of which are conducted in a paper-and-pencil format. Important Points:
- The exam will be conducted offline in a pen-paper based format.
- Each candidate will be given their own OMR sheet.
- The questions will be of objective type.
- There will be no negative marking for incorrect answers.
- Child Development and Pedagogy section will focus on Educational Psychology of Teaching and Learning for the age group of 6-11 years.
- Language I section will test the candidate’s proficiency in the Medium of Instruction, with a choice from the languages mentioned in the Paper-I table.
- Language II English section will focus on language elements, communication, and comprehension abilities.
- Mathematics and Environmental Studies sections will test the candidate’s understanding of the concepts, problem-solving abilities, and pedagogy of these subjects.

Note:
- Child Development and Pedagogy will focus on Educational Psychology of Teaching and Learning, relevant to the age group of 11-14 Years.
- Language-I will focus on the proficiencies related to the medium of instruction. The candidate has to choose any one of the languages mentioned in Sl. No. (ii) above in Paper-II table. For the recruitment process, the candidate shall be considered for the vacancies in the concerned medium only.
- Language-II – English will focus on the elements of language, communication, and comprehension abilities.
- Mathematics and Science / Social Science will focus on the concepts, problem-solving abilities, and pedagogical understanding of these subjects.
- The questions in the test Paper-II will be based on the topics of the prescribed syllabus of the State for Classes VI-VIII but their difficulty level, as well as linkages, will be up to the Higher Secondary (Senior Secondary) Stage.
